Case Study 8-09792
IET provided customized Six Sigma Training in non-traditional areas.
An international building products corporation
IET met with the client management team and jointly developed the course content, delivery methods and plan for mentoring green belts in their first projects. IET then prepared a customized Six Sigma green belt program specifically to fulfill the client needs.
The training program included elements of lean manufacturing such as 5S, waste reduction, value stream mapping, and error proofing. The core of the course is built around the DMAIC problem solving methodology:
IET trained the participants in the basics of statistics as well as Minitab to perform the calculations expected in a Six Sigma project. The training sessions consisted of approximately 30% lecture and 70% case studies. A mixture of manufacturing, accounting and general business cases were carefully developed to illustrate the Six Sigma concepts.
IET provided ongoing support during the participant’s first projects. This consisted of one-on-one meetings, teleconferences and review of final presentations. Reported savings generated by the projects have averaged over $130,000 per participant.
