The client’s management team was frustrated with indirect labor performance at one of its high volume facilities. IET was asked to develop strategic layouts for the shipping and receiving areas to improve dock door utilization along with specific flow patterns for raw materials, work-in-process and finished goods.

IET performed field measurements to create a current plant layout. The current layout was analyzed to show two main constraints in the material flow. By reallocating some resources and redesigning material flow paths, IET was able to reduce indirect labor efficiency by more than 20% on a daily average.
